I don't understand the people that make blanket fucking statements. Why do people have to insist on creating stereotypes and bundles of generalities which are extremely biased and ignorant? Why do people have to group everyone with a small minority of people who stain the reputation of the majority? This is why we fight wars. This is why people hate each other. Because we don't UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER. Maybe if we took the time out of lives to understand instead of criticize and cynically at that, then we would all have a lot less stress and get along a little better.

It's incredibly difficult to try to debate with an enraged impassioned Italian man who's trying to debase ALL of Americans and the general mentality of the country. I try to explain my points to my mom and she tries to relay them back to him, but she doesn't know how to exact the phrases.

He tries to insist that Americans are the extremists. If we have maybe 1 out of 1000 people that have mental conditions ...that has to apply to ALL Americans, right? And we did that to them, right? Each and every fucking one of us, huh? I don't know about him, but I don't reach out to that many people to influence someone like that. That might even be a compliment if I can reach that sphere of influence to push someone over the edge into insanity. Because if I stayed in that room much longer, that's what he would have done for me.
